Dolphin Quest, located at the National Museum of Bermuda, offers guests the opportunity to get nose-to-nose with bottlenose dolphins in fun and fascinating dolphin swims. Those interested in the ultimate experience with the dolphins can even become a “Trainer for a Day” or a “Trainer for a Week” and enjoy working, swimming and playing with their new dolphin friends as they see firsthand why Dolphin Quest dolphins are so beloved. Swimming alongside the dolphins, sitting on the docks to feed and train them, guests enjoy hours or even days discovering the important and sometimes challenging work of the dolphin trainer.
The training mentorship programmes start in the Fish Kitchen, where guests help prepare the dolphins’ food for the day. Next, it’s off to help the trainers give the dolphins their daily health checkups. Guests will get to know all the Dolphin Quest trainers and hear the stories of how they found their dream jobs and careers. Guests will also experience incredible dolphin encounters as trainers and programme participants. They will also learn through hands-on instruction how the Dolphin Quest trainers use positive rewards and affection to create close relationships and trusting bonds with the dolphins. In the “Trainer for a Week” programme, each day’s lessons build on the skills learned and mastered the day before, making every new day incredibly fun and exciting.
