Bermuda Music Festival

Please note that there is no music festival scheduled for 2011. As soon as the next date is available it will be posted here.

The Bermuda Music Festival, hosted by the Department of Tourism, is held in the fall (September-October) and each year seems to grow in scope and star-power. The star-studded 2010 music fest performers included Grammy award winner and son of the legendary Bob Marley — Ziggy Marley, the soulful talent of Angie Stone, hip-hop and R&B star Estelle and critically acclaimed, award winning singer-songwriter and actress Toni Braxton. Popular local talent join the music festival too; Homegrown, McCartney K and Friends plus the Chewstick Collective.

From famous shipwrecks and steel pan to knee socks and cricket matches, Britain’s oldest colony sure knows how to throw a party. A Caribbean mélange of colonial history and African heritage, Bermuda is also host to one of the hottest music festivals under the tropical sun.

Since 1995 when it started as a jazz event, the Bermuda Music Festival has attracted a slew of luminaries, including Beyoncé, crooner Michael McDonald, Smokey Robinson, Quincy Jones and Friends - accommpanied by the island's own Bermudian singer Gita Blakeney-Saltus, Earth, Wind & Fire, Patti Austin and Erykah Badu, social activist superstar Wyclef Jean, Six-time Grammy winner John Legend and Seal. The year 2009 was historic, when not only did the festival salute 14 years on the island but also inaugurated a new venue, the Keep Yard at the National Museum of Bermuda, which celebrated its 200th anniversary and has been majestically resorted to its original splendour.
