Visitors are invited to a summertime party called Destination Dockyard, organised by the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce and other sponsors. From June 8 to August 17, the celebration takes place every Monday night from 8:00 to 10:30 p.m. at Royal Naval Dockyard, and it's packed with fun activities.
Local vendors greet you with crafts, entertainment and food; and traditional Bermudian Gombeys in colourful costumes perform dances to the accompaniment of rhythmic drums.
Visit the many stores in the Clocktower Mall that stay open late for the party. Several surrounding businesses offer specials, and Snorkel Park presents live entertainment. The Frog & Onion, Bermuda Rum Cake Bakery and Bermuda Craft Market offer free samples of local food and drinks, and the family gets to enjoy a wide variety of activities like fun castles, face painting, hair braiding, airbrush tattoos and more.
How do you reach Dockyard? Easy: Take a ferry, bus or taxi from Hamilton, or try the minibus service, which takes passengers to and from their West End resorts. For those attending Destination Dockyard on Monday nights in the summer, direct ferries depart Hamilton for Dockyard at 6, 7, and 8 p.m., then depart Dockyard for Hamilton at 7:30, 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 p.m. From St. George's, the ferry departs at 6:05 arriving in Dockyard at 6:50 p.m. Or take a leisurely, scenic Bermuda Breeze bus ride from Hamilton via routes 7 or 8.
